July 9 – August 13
Opening Reception July 9, 2016
An Evening of Music, Poetry, Paintings and Photos Featuring:
The Beats inspired a generation of visual artists, poets, and musicians, and nowhere has their influence been felt more than in the San Francisco Bay Area, and North Beach, in particular—the home of the Beat Generation.
For more than 50 years, artists who came of age during this era, have been living and working under the long-tail influence of this cultural movement.
But San Francisco’s bohemian tradition pre-dated the Beats, and continues with the next-generation artists who came of age in the 1960s and 1970s and are continuing to make art informed by a certain bohemian sensibility. These artists have worked continually over half a century to push boundaries and embody the spirit of the post-beat era.
Join us for this unique exhibition that spotlights and celebrates the unique history of the arts in the bay area.
